 Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs)
( 251.57KB ) Since 1 October 2008, all commercial buildings being sold or let must be
covered by an Energy Performance Certificate. An EPC measures the energy
performance of a property based on the building fabric and the way it is
illuminated, heated and ventilated (including air‐conditioning).
 Code for Sustainable Homes (CSH)
( 238.81KB ) In April 2007 the Code for Sustainable Homes effectively replaced Ecohomes
for the environmental assessment of newly constructed domestic dwellings in
England.
 Display Energy Certificates (DECs)
( 263.74KB ) A Display Energy Certificate (DEC) is currently required annually for all
public buildings over 1000m2. The Government is currently proposing to
reduce the size threshold to 250m2.
 Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP)

recommended system for energy rating of all new dwellings of any size.
 Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM)
( 111.41KB ) The Simplified Building Energy Model (SBEM) is the default method for
assessing both target and proposed levels of CO2 emissions for nonresidential
buildings.
